Tripura seeks Rs 10 crore to face-lift Dumbur

Agartala, Aug 05 (UNI) Tripura government has sought assistance of Rs 10 crore in two phases for restoring eco-tourism at south Tripura's Dumbur Lake under Tourism Destination Development Projects (TDDP).

Official sources here today said a three-member TDDP team, led by Deputy General Manager of Indian Tourism Development Mr D.N.Deo, recently visited the proposed site and held meetings with the tourism officials.

''They have expressed willingness to fund the project after seeing Dumbur's scenic beauty and assured to forward the matter to the concerned authorities,'' Tripura Tourism Director Subhas Das said.

Sources said the TDDP delegation had also visited Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary and the historical Tripureswari temple, besides Tepania Ecopark and Sipahijala Sanctuary, while assuring the state government to extend support for development of tourism industry.

The state government had already sent a detailed proposal to Union Tourism Ministry for development of existing tourism sites and explore potential destinations, official sources added.
