Industrial labourers in Haryana to get revised wages

Chandigarh, Aug 5 (UNI) The industrial labourer in Haryana would get revised wages with effect from July 1, 2007, Finance, Labour and Employment Minister Birender Singh said here today.

This decision would benefit about 40,000 labourers working in the state in various factories and companies.

He said the industrial labourer in Haryana was getting higher wages than his counterpart working in other states. An increase of 40 per cent had been given in the minimum wages, leading to an increase from Rs 2,486 to Rs 3,510 per month.

He said the minimum wages fixed by Central Government was Rs 3,460 per month and in Delhi it was Rs 3,470 per month.

The Minister said that six district labour courts had been set up in the state. These included one each at Hisar, Ambala, Panipat and Faridabad and two at Gurgaon. He said that nine labour courts had also set up in the state.

He maintained that over 40,000 companies were working in the state in which 4.50 lakh labourers were working in the organised sector. He said that according to an estimate, a about 26 lakh labourer were working in the unorganised sector.

He also advocated for carving out two Economic Corridors in the state to strengthen the economy. He said this decision would provide ample opportunity of employment to the youth.
