IGNOU to set up Indira Gandhi Centre for Studies on Freedom Stru
New Delhi, Aug 5 (UNI) The Indira Gandhi National Open University will establish the Indira Gandhi Centre for Studies on Freedom Struggle in the varsity to commemorate the 150 years of the First war of Indian Independence, 1857.
The announcement comes after the University's Board of Management accepted the recommendations of the Commemoration Committee, an official spokesperson said.
The Centre will be inaugurated on August 9 by Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh.
The objective of the Centre is to carry out relevant research and conduct other activities to honour freedom fighters and martyrs with a view to keep alive the patriotic spirit, communal harmony and multi-culturalism.
