Haryana govt to give labour awards
Chandigarh, Aug 5 (UNI) With a view to motivate labourers, the Haryana Labour Welfare Board has decided to provide labour awards under the Chief Minister Labour Award Scheme.
These awards would be of different denominations, from Rs20,000 to Rs one lakh and would be given for outstanding performances.
While giving this information here today, Labour Welfare Commissioner N C Wadhwa said that the Board had initiated a number of welfare schemes for the benefit labourers and their dependents working in the 9636 registered factories in the state.
Mr Wadhwa said that with a view to maintain good health of the industrial worker, an industrial hygienes laboratory had been set up at Faridabad. The main purpose of this laboratory was to regulate and monitor the working environment in the factories so that the health of workers would not be adversely affected.
He said that as many as 380 chemical and hazardous factories were inspected during the year 2005-06, while 400 factories would be inspected during the current financial year.
He said that the Board had also decided to provide a financial help of Rs 20,000 to a widow on the demise of her husband (labourer). Besides a financial assistance of Rs 5100 would also be given to families for solemnising the marriage of their daughters and this would be applicable for two girls.
Mr Wadhwa said that besides the board was also providing financial assistance pf upto Rs 10,000 to a labourer on the basis of percentage of physical disability. To promote education among the labour class children, a financial help amounting to Rs 2000 to Rs 8000 was being given to those children who would got more than 50 per cent marks in their respective classes.
He said that various vocational job oriented courses had been introduced at the labour welfare centres in the state.
