Four govt schools in Chandigarh set to become 'Smart Schools'

Chandigarh, Aug 5 (UNI) The Chandigarh Administration has decided to establish the concept of 'Smart Class Rooms' in UT Chandigarh as per the need of changing scenario in the field of education.

Initially four of the Government Model Senior Secondary Schools in the UT shall be converted into Smart Schools where emiphasis would be on the use of information and communication technology.

These schools will endeavour on achieving excellence in academics, co-curricular area and the educational management.

The focus in these schools will be on learning through technology. The class-rooms will be converted into technology-rooms by establishing resource-rooms for providing on-the-spot guidance to the teachers and other educational facilitators.

The class rooms are proposed to be equipped with Plasma Screens and other peripherals. All educational services of the school will be interconnected and centralised with the Principal, who will act as Nodal Officer for all the activities.

The UT Administration has invited applications from reputed IT and Computer Education Firms or Institutions for selection of Service Provider for the implementation of this concept in the four Government Schools.

This project shall be run under Self-Financed Course for the children of only four Model Schools for period of one year extendable upto five years on year-to year basis.
