Former BJP leader J P Mathur passes away
Jaipur, Aug 5 (UNI) Former Rajasthan BJP president Jagdish Prasad Mathur died here last night following a long illness.
A large number of party leaders and workers were present at the cremation at the Lal Kothi cremation ground here this evening.
Mathur, 80, was also one of the founder members of Jan Sangh in the desert state.
He first entered the Rajasthan Assembly in 1957 and was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Sikar parliamentary constituency in 1977. Mathur also represented the state in the Upper House of Parliament.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, state BJP president Mahesh Sharma, party general secretary and incharge of Rajasthan Gopinath Munde, party general secretary Om Prakash Mathur, national organising secretary Ramlal, tresurer Ramdas Agarwal, Congress leader Ashkar Ali Tak were among those who paid homage to the departed leader.
