Dalit Sena urges TN Govt to fill up vacancies for SC, ST

Salem, Aug 5 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Unit of the Dalit Sena today appealed to the State Government to initiate a special drive for filling up the existing backlog vacancies meant for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the Government Departments and to retrieve the panchami land.

In a press release here, Dalit Sena's State President AM Palaanimuthu said a resolution to this effect was adopted at the Sena's Salem District Office-bearers meeting.

Mr Palaanimuthu said the meeting urged the Government to hand over the panchami land to the original Dalit owners, soon after its retrieval.

The meeting also expressed its concern over the unhygenic conditions prevailing in the Adidravida Welfare Hostels meant for college students and Law college students and urged the government to shift such hostels to a suitable place by ensuring their proper maintenance.

The meeting noted that the 'double glass system' was still being practiced in different parts of the State, especially in this district, and urged the Government to set right the social injustice immediately.

While hailing its efforts to distribute two-acre land to the landless poor free of cost, the meeting appealed to the government to acquire the surplus land of landlords under the Land Ceiling Act.

The meeting also urged the Government to acquire the encroached pieces of land and ensure that they were distributed to the landless poor.
