Court directs registering case against fake Miss India
Varanasi, Aug 5 (UNI) A local court here has directed the district police to register a criminal case against a Lucknow based model, who in June last allegedly duped the holy city by posing self as Miss India Earth 2005.
The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (Special) yesterday directed the police at Varanasi Kotwali to register a case against Lucknow based model Neha Singh for posing self as Miss India Earth 2005 at a fashion show in here in June this year.
Special CJM Ramsudh Singh, hearing the petition filed by Prerna Kala Manch (PKM) chairman Vikram Bhardawj, also directed the police to register a case against Wamik Khan -- a model coordinator from the state capital, who had allegedly brought Neha to Varanasi.
In his petition, Mr Bhardwaj had alleged the model had exacted Rs 10,000 from him by posing as Miss India Earth 2005.
Earlier on June 11 last, Neha Singh, while addressing a press conference here, had introduced herself as Miss India Earth and the next day, also strutted down the ramp of the fashion show organised by PKM under the fake identity. She also participated at the Vote for Taj programme organised by a school in the city as Miss India Earth 2005.
Later, it was revealed that it was not Lucknow based Neha Singh, but instead Mumbai based Niharika Singh, who was crowned Miss India Earth in 2005.
