Coller Capital to enter Japanese market: Nikkei
Tokyo, Aug 5: London-based Coller Capital, the world's largest investor in private equity secondaries, is set to enter the Japanese market, the Nikkei business daily said on Sunday.
The fund, which buys assets the original investors want to exit, plans to spend 50 to 60 billion yen (0-500 million) in Japan over the next few years, the paper added.
Coller this spring established a fund that invests in various nations, especially the United States and Europe. It plans to use roughly 10 percent of the .8 billion in the fund in Japan.
Secondary private equity investors assume commitments from institutional investors and pension plans to fund private equity and venture capital investments, often at a steep discount.
Coller, founded in 1990, had some billion under management as of April.
