Bihar govt and UNICEF offer Medical relief to flood victims
Patna, Aug 5 (UNI) The Bihar government in association with the UNICEF has taken measures to combat possible outbreak of gastro-enteritis, malaria, dengue and leptospirosis in the state.
According to a release of the UNICEF, a joint medical relief operation began in the flood-affected areas to combat the health problems. Mobile medical relief teams were constituted and deployed to the affected districts to organise health camp, the release added.
The UNICEF had also deputed focal persons in the district of Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, East and West Champaran, Seohar, Supaul, Khagaria, Saharsa and Samastipur to provide technical assistance for medical relief activities.
Measles vaccination was being carried out in the flood affected areas to prevent the outbreak of the disease during floods.
The UNICEF, supported by Rotary International, is also providing 'life straw' devices to help in filtering unclean water to aid prevention of water-borne diseases.
