Woman naxal consumes poison in police custody

Durg, Chhattisgarh, Aug 4 (UNI) A woman naxalite leader, who was arrested from Bhilai yesterday, today attempted to commit suicide in police custody by consuming poison, police said.

Padma consumed poison at around 1600 hours. She was rushed to the district hospital. Her condition was stated to be out of danger.

Panic gripped police after Padma consumed poison. Senior police officials met after the incident to ascertain how Padma obtained poison. Action could be taken against some police officials in the case.
