Woman files FIR againt five cops over husband's custodial death

Vadodara, Aug 4 (UNI) A city-based woman today filed a First Information Report (FIR) against five police officials of Makarpura police station over the alleged custodial death of her husband in 1994.

Pramilaben Rasiklal Jaiswal filed the FIR against Inspector B M Jadeja (now retired as Dy SP), Sub-Inspector Bismillah Khan J Pathan (now serving in Eastern Railways as Inspector), Sub-Inspector M K Jhala (now Inspector) Pravinsinh (died in 2005) and head constable Chattrasinh (retired as Sub-Inspector blaming them for her husband's death.

Her husband Rasiklal was rounded up on September 17, 1994 under CrPC 151 for disturbing public peace and put behind bars. When she went to meet her husband in the evening on that day, she was refused a meeting allegedly by the five policemen named in the FIR. The next morning she was told her husband had died in the lock-up the previous night itself.

Following the FIR, Police Commissioner P C Thakur has ordered ACP 'A' Division D D Damor to probe the complaint.
