Shatrughan sympathises with Sanjay Dutt
Bhopal, Aug 4 (UNI) Expressing sympathy with BollyWood actor Sanjay Dutt, who was recently handed a six-year jail term in the 1993 serial blasts case, actor-turned-BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha today said the incident should be viewed in totality.
Mr Sinha, who has been selected for the Madhya Pradesh Government's Kishore Kumar Award, claimed that Sanjay could be mischievous but could not be a terrorist or anti-national.
Mr Sinha pointed out that Sanjay belonged to a patriotic family.
His father, the late Sunil Dutt, opted for politics for doing public service and was active in social work before joining politics.
''Several people had been sentenced along with Sanjay and their families are suffering,'' the BJP leader said, adding that the pain of families of several hundreds of victims of the 1993 Mumbai bomb blast should not be forgotten.
Praising TADA court Special Judge P D Kode, who delivered the verdict, Mr Sinha said his role in the incident enhanced the dignity of the judiciary.
He expressed hoped that justice would be delivered to Sanjay and it would bring peace to his family and his father's soul.
