Shatrughan questions manner of distribution of awards
Bhopal, Aug 4 (UNI) Bollywood actor-turned-BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha today questioned the manner in which award were distributed in film industry and said senior artists should accept 'Life Time Achievement' awards only.
Sinha, who has been selected for the prestigious Kishore Kumar Award, told reporters that he believed that only 'Life Time Achievement' awards were appropriate for senior artists such as Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan.
Sinha, who was honoured with a similar award recently, said everybody knew the manner in which the awards were distributed.
Hence, nobody was interested in them.
Describing conferring of the Kishore Kumar Award as a matter of great respect for him, he said he was a great admirer of legendary Kishore Kumar.
On whether he felt he deserved the award, Sinha shot back that media should decide whether somebody like him, who had performed in about 250 films, should be given this award or not.
BJP leader said he was not the first person to receive the award.
Earlier, ten artists had been honoured with this award and he could be compared with any one of them.
On being asked to hum a tune from a Kishore Kumar's song, which was filmed on him, Sinha smiled and asked media persons not to rag him.
