Revision petition filed in Shilpa-Gere kissing episode
Indore, Aug 4: A revision petition has been filed in the district court here challenging the verdict of a lower court on a complaint charging film actors Shilpa Shetty and Richard Gere of objectionable behaviour in public during an AIDS awareness programme recently.
Advocate Indrajeet Singh Bhatia had filed the revision petition before Judge I S Srivastava's court challenging Judicial Magistrate Sarla Bakarwal's order.
He requested the court to direct the lower court to register a case against five people, including Shilpa, Gere, organisers of the programme and Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasrin.
Earlier, Mr Bhatia had filed a complaint in lower court on April 20 seeking action against Shilpa, Gere, organisers of the programme, Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasrin and others under sections 109, 292, 293 and 294 and section 7 of the Cinematography Act, 1952.
Judicial Magistrate Sarla Bakarwal had quashed the complaint stating that the matter did not come under the category of obscenity.
