MCL's new mechanism to ensure coal supply to NALCO
New Delhi, Aug 4 (UNI) Orissa-based Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) has taken a decision in consultation with the Ministry of Railways and other coal companies to ensure that there is no shortage of coal as against the linked quantity allocated to National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO).
MCL, a subsidiary of the public sector Coal India Ltd (CIL) supplies coal to NALCO's Angul Plant to the tune of 14,000 tonnes per day on normative basis, for the generation of captive power.
However, due to adverse geo mining conditions in the linked mines as well as evacuation problem in Merry-go-round (MGR), there has been a shortfall in supply from the linked mine, a Coal Ministry statement issued here today said.
The shortfall was being met from other mines of MCL using Indian Railways wagons. However, recently due to unavailability of Wagons for supply of coal from other MCL mines in Talcher area, there has been lesser supply, the statement added.
