Amarinder opposes fee hike in private medical colleges
Patiala, Aug 4 (UNI) Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today criticised the Punjab Government for the hike in fee structure of private medical colleges for the government quota as well as management quota seats.
He said here today the present government has not yet formed a fee fixation committee as per the guidelines of the Supreme court.
He also questioned the 50:50 ratio of government and management quota, he demanded that the management quota should be reduced. He said that in other states management quota was only 25 to 30 per cent.
He also suggested that the Government should raise the fee of NRI students rather than to burden the eligible students of the state.
''Proposed fee hike in management quota will increase burden on common man who have been facing hardship to provide costly education to their children,'' Capt Amarinder said.
He believes that the problem lies in the government's policies.
He said, on one hand the Government claimed that it wanted people to get higher education and on the other hand it was making it beyond the reach of common people.
