Your writings on food, hunger well known: Prez tells Sainath

New Delhi, Aug 3 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today congratulated noted journalist P Sainath on winning the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award 2007, stating that the award became ''more important'' as it had been given in recognition of his reporting on rural areas.

Extending her ''heartiest congratulations,'' Ms Patil said, ''the award becomes more important as it has been given in recognition of your work in the field of rural reporting and to highlight the problems of poverty and illiteracy.

''Your writings on water, food, hunger and other matters of societal interests are well known,'' she said in a message.
