Woman attempts suicide after strangulating baby girl

Varanasi, Aug 3 (UNI) Peeved over husband's inability to finance her visit to parent's house, a young woman attempted suicide after allegedly strangulating her baby girl in the Lohta area here early today.

Saroj (25) first strangulated her six-month old daughter and then attempted to end her life by jumping off from the house terrace in the Dhanipur village, police said.

The young woman was admitted to the district hospital, where she was stated to be in a critical condition.
