Visiting German delegation calls on Mah Guv Krishna
Mumbai, Aug 3 (UNI) A German Parliamentary delegation today called on Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna at the Raj Bhawan to discuss India's Federal structure, besides other key areas of interest.
According to a Raj Bhavan communique, Mr Krishna explained to his German guests about the potential that Maharashtra offers in terms of economy, trade and commerce.
''He further spoke about his role as the chancellor of universities in the state and explained to the delegation the functioning of the country's federal structure.'' The German Parliament's (German Bundestag) Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs led by its chairman, Ruprecht Polenz is currently on a visit to India. The delagation is here to study federalism in India and other topics like distribution of powers between the centre and states, devolution of taxes and funding of education etc.
Those who called on the Governor included Eckhart von Klaeden, Parliamentarian and Foreign Policy spokesperson for the Christian Democratic Union Parliamentary Group, Wolfgang Gehrcke, MP, Sylvya Hartlief, Secretary of the Committees on Foreign Affairs of the German Bundestag and the Consul General of Germany in Mumbai, Walter Stechel, the statement added.
