Chennai, Aug 3 (UNI) Tamil National Movement (TNM) leader P Nedumaran today urged the Tamil Nadu government to initiate action against police officials, who had implicated People's Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Abdul Nasser Maudhany in the Coimbatore serial bomb blasts case.

In a statement here, he said the special court judge, who tried the case, had acquitted the PDP leader, holding that none of the charges, framed against him under the Arms Act and Explosives Substances Act were proved.

Hence, it became clear that Mr Maudhany was implicated in the case on false charges and who should be held responsible for his nine year incarceration, Mr Nedumaran asked and pointed out that Mr Maudhany was not granted bail, nor allowed medical facility in a hospital.

Stating that the police personnel and politicians who had instigated to foist cases against Maudhany should hung their heads in shame in the wake of his acquittal, he said adding the state government should initiate action against them and put an end to the practice of foisting cases.

The Tamil Nadu government should also announce adequate compensation to Mr Maudhany, who had faced several hardships during his nine-year incarceration, Mr Nedumaran said.

Mr Maudhany, cited as the 14th accused in the case, was set at liberty on the night of August one, after the Special Court acquitted him of all charges in the sensational case.
