South West monsoon revives in Orissa
Bhubaneswar, Aug 03 (UNI) The Southwest monsoon has become very active in some parts of Orissa, after remaining weak for the last two weeks.
Met office sources here today said the current meteorological conditions and interpretation of various numerical weather prediction models had suggested a revival in monsoon activity over the state.
A low pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal on August four along with a southward shift in monsoon trough. The low pressure area is likely to become more marked and move slowly in a west north westerly direction, Met sources said.
Under this scenario, isolated heavy to very heavy falls are likely to occur over Orissa while a fresh low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal is likely to be formed from August 11 onwards, Met sources said.
