Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Aug 3 (UNI) Congress President Sonia Gandhi has commended the Chhattisgarh unit of Mahila Congress for regularly visiting female inmates in jails.

Mrs Gandhi appreciated the report, mentioning the regular visit by party workers to female jail inmates, presented by President Rita Bahuguna Joshi at the Mahila Congress' national council meeting few days ago.

''The report also mentioned the Chhattisgarh Assembly's gherao by Mahila Congress workers protesting the BJP government's failure on various fronts'', Chhattisgarh Mahila Congress chief Vani Rao told reporters here today on her return after attending the national council meeting in New Delhi.

Ms Rao said she had informed Mrs Gandhi in detail about the irregularities in Rozgar Guarantee Yojana and massive exodus of tribals from naxal-affected districts to neighbouring states.

''Union Miniser for Women and Child Development Renuka Choudhary also confirmed that large number of tribals from Chhattisgarh had reached her Lok Sabha constituency Khammam in Andhra Pradesh'', Ms Rao added.
