Naveen rules out enhancement of retirement age for employees

Bhubaneswar, Aug 2 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today ruled out any enhancement of retirement age of the government employees from 58 years to 60 years.

Mr.Patnaik made it clear that the proposal was not under consideration of the government but hinted that other demands of the employees would be taken up for consideration in course of time.

The Chief Minister's statement came in the wake of a massive demonstration organised by the Karmachari Sangram Samittee and the employees of the state secretariat today demanded retirement age at 60 years and merger of 50 per cent DA with the basic salary from April 2004 instead of April 2006.

However, bowing to the employees'demand, Mr Patnaik yesterday announced to constitute a committee to set right the anomalies created following the fifth Pay Commission report. He also agreed to pay central gratuity and announced Rs 20 crore for the construction of quarters for the employees working at the district level.
