Naga Hoho lauds Dimapur meet on truce

Kohima, Aug 3: The Hoho tribal body of Nagaland has appreciated the initiative taken up by the Centre and NSCN-IM to dissolve the political crisis in the state.

The Naga Hoho, in a statement issued today, welcomed the extension of ceasefire between the two entities for an indefinite period, subject to 'progress of the political negotiation'.

According to the statement, ''The media and the general public are equally confused over the interpretation of truce extension for an indefinite period. These are nothing but the words to mislead the public.'' The NSCN-IM held a political dialogue with the Centre on July 31 in Dimapur.

With regards to the truce extension, the Hoho in their statement clarified that the political dialogue between the two parties should be equivocally treated as crucial and also appealed to both the Centre and NSCN-IM to find a transparent and lasting solution to the crisis.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement, the Nagaland Peace Centre(NPC) has welcomed the extension of ceasefire between the Union Government and the NSCN-IM for an indefinite period.

In their release, NPC Chairman N Theyo and Executive Director Lhusi Haralu expressed hopes that during the indefinite ceasefire, sincere attempts would find an honourable and acceptable solution to the Naga political problem.
