Meerut-Haridwar highway closed to facilitate 'Kanwariyas'
Muzaffarnagar, Aug 3 (UNI) The Meerut-Haridwar National Highway has been closed till August 11 for security of 'Kanwariyas', who bring sacred ganga water from Haridwar for the 'jal abhishek' of lord Shiva every year.
Police said today the vehicular traffic at Meerut-Roorkee, Muzaffarnagar-Saharanpur and Panipat-Muzaffarnagar route had been diverted.
This was the temporary arrangement and traffic would be resumed on August 12 after the 'jal abhishek' of Lord Shiva, they added.
