Kuki militants agrees for cease fire with government

Shillong, Aug 3 (UNI) Thirteen Kuki militants in Manipur have decided to sign a cease-fire agreement with the state government, Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh said today.

'' Thirteen Kuki militant outfits under the banner of the Kuki National Army and United People's Front have conveyed their willingness to go on a cease-fire with the government,'' Mr Singh told reporters here.

The Chief Minister said the Cabinet, which met yesterday at Imphal has decided to take up the matter with the Home Ministry to prepare the cease-fire ground rules.

Mr Singh also appealed to the valley based militant groups in his state to shun the path of violence and discuss their problem across the table.

Manipur has more than 50 militant outfits fighting for an ''autonomous homeland.'' UNI
