IT professionals stress on entrepreneurship

Chandigarh, August 3 (UNI) e-Revolution 2007, which concluded here today, emphasised on the role of innovation and investment in entrepreneurship that could lead the newer ideas to fruition.

The concluding day of the two-day event was driven with the joint initiative of Band of Angels, Indian Venture Capital Association, and TiE to mentor the participants on entrepreneurship.

Tech Mahindra Managing Director Vineet Nayyar in his keynote address put across the need to revamp the entire education system to drive the knowledge society and the country's economy.

"The world's economies have grown not because of massive investments but with the changes in their policies, and therefore, the need is for the government to eliminate barriers in the entry of newer technologies that alone can drive innovation, and build up the right ecosystem for the economy to thrive," Mr Nayyar said.

Mr Nayyar commended the Chandigarh Administration, Governments of Punjab and Haryana for collaborating and creating an environment that can promote entrepreneurship in the region.
