Indian ships can now touch Pakistan shores
New Delhi, Aug 3: Indian ships will now be allowed to touch the Pakistani ports for unloading the cargos after a shipping protocol was signed between the two countries, Pakistan Commerce Secretary Syed Asif Shah said today.
He has said that the neighbours have reached a consesus on the shipping protocol.
''Now, the Indian ships will be allowed to touch the Pakistani shores. And the cargos can be unloaded at the ports itself. This will help in boosting the economic ties between the countries, '' Mr Shah said.
Currently, Indian ships are not allowed on Pakistan waters.
The shipment had to be taken by a third-party ship for unloading the cargos.
The move is expected to enhance the trade prospects between the countries, he said at the meeting by industry chamber Ficci.
Mr Shah said the government would also discuss the prospects of road and railway transaction of cargos.
