Haryana to observe Dhyan Chand's B'day as 'Sports Day'

Chandigarh, Aug 3 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to observe the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand on August 29 as 'Sports Day' and to mark this important event a State Level Sports Competition would be organised at Gurgaon.

An official spokesman said outstanding hockey players would be honoured on this occasion. Friendly hockey matches would also be organised at Gurgaon to mark the occasion, he added.

He said the birthday of Major Dhyan Chand would be celebrated throughout the state and district level sports competitions of athletics, volleyball and hockey would also be organised.
