Gujarat Govt team visits TNAU
Coimbatore, Aug 3 (UNI) An eleven-member team of Gujarat Government officials visited the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Department here and discussed ongoing researches and activities of the varsity.
Talking to newspersons here today, Gujarat Agriculture Minister Dhilip Kumar Thakor, who led the team, said that under a project called 'Krishi Mahotsavam', started in 2005, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had sent over 700 agricultural scientists to villages to meet the farmers to know their problems first hand and promote scientific farming to achieve more productivity.
The project would focus on soil content analysis to determine what type of fertiliser could be used and issuing soil health card, vaccination of animals, issuing kisan cards, distributing mini kits for agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry, and promotion of drip irrigation, he said.
To a question, the Minister said the Gujarat Government would soon have collaboration in research with TNAU in the field of bio-technology, bio-diesel and hybrid seed production.
