Hyderabad, Aug 3 (UNI) Describing acquisition of land for Special Economic Zones (SEZs) as one of the 'biggest scams' in the country, the Bharatiya Janata Party unit of Andhra Pradesh today said it would launch a massive strike against the government's SEZs policy which allegedly put the poor people to hardships.

The party would organise a workshop here on August 5 to expose the ruling Congress at the Centre and in the state, which had allegedly turned the exercise of allocating lands into a real estate business and chalk out an agitation programme, BJP State President and former Union Minister Bandari Dattatreya told reporters here.

BJP Legal Cell National Convenor Pinky Anand and BJP leader from Maharashtra Kirit Somayya would address the workshop.

Opposing the State Cabinet's decision to allocate land to IT companies like Cognizant and Tata Consultancy Services, senior BJP leader Ch Vidyasagar Rao suggested the Left parties should occupy such lands. Leaving the poor people in the lurch, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's government was giving large tracts of prime lands to 'influential people' at a throw away price.

The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government was allegedly planning to set apart mineral rich land in tribal areas for corporates, Mr Rao claimed.

Referring to the recent Mudigonda police firing on those agitating for land, he claimed that the Chief Minister had not learnt any lesson from the unfortunate incident. The BJP, which had agitated for land to the tiller during the TDP regime, would soon embark on a stir for land to the poor, he said.

The TDP, which had allegedly not allocated lands for the poor during its regime, was now politicising the Mudigonda firing, he added.
