Vijaya Bank signs accord with IDRBT for ATMs

Bangalore, Aug 2: Public Sector Vijaya Bank will join the consortium of banks from tomorrow for sharing of ATMs network through National Financial Switch (NFS).

Announcing this to newsmen here, Bank's Chairman and Managing Director Prakash Mallya said that an agreement to this effect was signed with the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT). Under the agreement more than 2.7 lakh ATM Cum Debit Card holders of Vijaya Bank could access any of the 13200 shared ATMs in addition to the bank owned 171 ATMs and transact cash withdrawals upto Rs 15,000 per day besides making enquiries.

Similarly, other bank card holders could also transact at Vijaya Bank's owned ATMs for cash withdrawals and balance enquiries, he explained.

He said the NFS network currently had a membership of 25 banks comprising 11 public sector banks and 15 private sector banks.

He said the bank had successfully implemented the Finacle based Core Banking Solution (CBS) and presently 475 of the 985 branches of the bank were networked through CBS covering 81 per cent of overall business of the bank. The bank hoped to ensure 100 per cent CBS coverage by March next. The bank had also taken steps to increase the number of ATMs from 171 to 375 by March next, he added.
