Tribal students oppose anti tribal stand of government

Imphal, Aug 2 (UNI) The All Tribal Students Union Manipur(ATSUM) has charged Manipur government with neglecting the tribals of the state.

The ATSUM, in a statement here, said the Manipur Public Service Commission did not follow the rules while appointments were made recently.

The promotions in the police department also did not follow the rules laid down for SC and ST, the ATSUM charged. The teachers in the hill areas were hired on contract basis and their terms were not extended, the ATSUM said.

Whether it is in the Manipur University or the government departments, the reservation policy for the SC and ST were not fully followed, it charged.

The ATSUM said it will wait for a response from the government till August 7 and if there was no positive response it would launch a stir, it warned.
