Students roughed up by seniors in school hostel, hospitalised

Agartala, Aug 2 (UNI) Two class six students sustained serious injuries when they were attacked by a couple of their seniors in the Ramchandraghat Navodoya school hostel in West Tripura at midnight last night.

Police today said the injured students have been shifted to Khowai sub-divisional hospital, while school administration has asked the hostel authorities to investigate the matter and take action against the accused students.

According to reports, victim Ajoy Namasudra and Sumanta Sarkar were allegedly asked by their seniors - Kaushik Pal and Bikash Debbarmma, both Class IX students to wash the clothes of the latter but when the victims refused to do so they had beaten them up.

Kaushik and Bikash allegedly attacked Ajoy and Sumanta at around 00 hours when they were sleeping in their rooms, police said adding that other students had rushed to the room and found them unconscious with blood stains on their bodies.

Hostel authorities were immediately informed and both the victims were shifted to the hospital. The doctors have confirmed that they were now out of danger.

In another clash among themselves at least seven students of Madhupur high school of West Tripura were injured yesterday.
