Mumbai, Aug 2: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt will be shifted to the Yerawada Jail in Pune from the Arthur Road prison where he is presently lodged.

According to IG Prisons Satish Mathur, Dutt will be shifted to the Yerawada Jail anytime today. Dutt has withdrawn the application in which he had urged the court to keep him in the Arthur Road jail along with his friend Yusuf Nulwalla.

The 48-year-old actor, who has been sentenced to six-year rigorous imprisonment for his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, is presently lodged in the ''buddha cell (cell for the aged convicts) in Barrack No 1.

The Arthur Road jail is primarily meant for undertrials and does not have labour industry facilities. However, once convicted, a prisoner has to engage in labour and, so, has to be shifted to other jails in the state where such facilities exist.

According to jail sources, Dutt, who has been assigned the number C-6423 in the jail, will be taken in the evening along with Yusuf Nulwalla. Incidentally, all the twelve convicts who have been handed the death sentence in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, are also lodged in the Yerawada Jail.

Meanwhile, Yerawada Jail superintendent Rajendra Dhamne informed that a convict, lodged in the jail, has to engage in work like tailoring, carpentary, soap-making, bakery, gardening, and such others.

For Sanjay Dutt, today was the third day in jail. Sources said the actor's blood pressure was found to be high when jail doctors examined him this morning.
