Petition in Dawood building demolition case filed
Mumbai, Aug 2: The designated TADA court, which tried the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, today asked the prosecution to file a say by August 10 on a plea moved by residents of a building located in Pakmodia Street from where Dawood Ibrahim once operated.
Dawood's mother, Aminabi Parkar, was a resident on the second floor of the building.
Shoaib Noorani, trustee of Haji Ismail Haji Habib Musafirkhana, has told TADA court judge P D Kode that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has recently served a notice to demolish it, but the demolition could cause law and order problems and hence, proper security should be provided during the demolition.
Because of the building's condition, the BMC wants to demolish it.
There are 200 occupants, from 37 families, residing in the building.
Following the plea, Judge Kode has asked the prosecution to file its say.
