Police resort to lathi charge to disperse huge crowd, none hurt
Pune, Aug 2 (UNI) The police tonight resorted to a mild lathi charge to disperse a huge crowd gathered outside the Yerawada Jail here to catch a glimpse of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt.
However, nobody was hurt in the incident, police said.
Dutt was sentenced to undergo 6 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) under the Arms Act by Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (prevention) Act (TADA) court on Tuesday for keeping an AK-56 rifle and a 9 mm pistol at his Bandra residence.
Every time a police vehicle arrived, the waiting crowd started shouting 'Munnabhai Zindabad'.
Unconfirmed reports said Dutt may be taken to the government-run Sasson Hospital here for a customary medical check-up.
Police have now cordoned off the area and increased the security.
