New Delhi, Aug 2 (UNI) A Nigerian national has been arrested by the Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police for duping a person of Rs 6.5 lakh, in a fake inheritance scam run on the internet.

Okhai Prince Albert had gone to collect money from the victim from a five-star hotel in the capital. Later it was found that he had been living in the country illegally.

A trap had been laid by the police after the complainant Khozhaima Gabu from Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh had complained of being duped of Rs 6.5 lakh.

Gabu was first lured into paying up the amount by one Dr Bruce Hagging on the pretext that he had won a lottery of 250,000 pounds.

He was then asked from time to time to pay upto Rs 6.5 lakh under different heads like transfer fees, bank transfer fees, tax to UK government and currency conversion charges etc, which he did in the hope of getting the lottery prize.

Later, Gabu was asked to collect the amount from the South African Embassy on July 24. He was directed to meet one Michael Morgan, who was alleged to be a diplomat, in a hotel. Morgan then asked him to get money for an Airway Bill, for which he was not ready. Gabu then got suspicious and alerted the police.

A trap was laid and Okhai, who was to collect the money from Gabu was arrested.
