Masterji briefs Governor of ISBT state of affairs
Chandigarh, Aug 2 (UNI) Punjab Transport Minister Master Mohan Lal today called on Punjab Governor and Administrator Union Territory Chandigarh and apprised him of the problems being faced by commuters at the ISBT here.
The minister narrated the harrowing experience faced by him at the Sector 17 Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) yesterday. He shared his expreience of traveling on a Punjab Roadways bus as a passenger with the Governor.
The Minister had yesterday boarded a Roadways bus enroute to Rajpura from the ISBT here. The exercise was conducted to get first hand information of the problems being faced by commuters.
The Minister informed the Administrator that toilets at the ISBT were stinking and clogged and unauthorised persons were charging money from passengers for using toilets. The book stalls at the ISBT were selling pornographic literature and eatable stalls were fleecing the passengers by charging exorbitant rates, the Minister conveyed to the Governor.
The Minister also brought to the notice of the Governor the state of the water coolers which were not functional. He also told the UT Administrator that overall hygiene conditions at ISBT were very poor and there was no suggestion box/complaint box available for the public.
Gen Rodrigues appreciated the concern shown by the Minister and assured that shortcomings pointed out would be rectified within one week and he would personally visit the ISBT.
