Govt appoints retd Judge to inquire firing

Hyderabad, Aug 2 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh government today appointed retired High Court Judge I Panduranga Rao to inquire into the police firing at Mudigonda in Khammam District on July 28 that left seven persons dead, and sought a report within thre months.

An official release here said the Commission would hold its sittings at Mudigonda or at any other place as may be considered necessary by the Commission and would complete its inquiry and report to state government within a period of three months from the date of assumption of charge.

The terms of reference of the Commission would be communicated separately.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section(1) of Section five of the Act, the Government of Andhra Pradesh directed that all the provisons of the sub-sections (2), (3) (4) and (5) of Section five of the Commission of Inquiry Act 1952 shall apply to the Commission, the release added.
