Itanagar, Aug 2 (UNI) The flood situation in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh marginally improved as water level of all the rivers in the district were receding with slight improvement of the weather condition.

However, the road communication of Tezu-Thongam-Parasuram Kund remained cut off from rest of the country for the past few days, said official sources.

Participating in the emergency meeting of the district level relief and rehabilitation management committee at Tezu, local MLA Karikho Kri appealed to all the officers to work on war footing in a coordinated manner for restoration of road link, power and water supply at the earliest with minimum expenditure to bring normalcy in the district.

The meeting further reviewed the flood situation and strategy to take up restoration works and took stock of food grains availability and decided to use all means to bring petroleum products by some alternative routes.

The road communication between Roing in Lower Dibang Valley district and Anini in Dibang Velley district remained disrupted due to landslide in several places for the past four days, sources said.

Bailey bridge over the Deopani river and approach road to the RCC bridge over the Ippi Pani river near Roing were washed away by flood water, sources said adding restoration works will take two to three weeks time if weather condition improved.

The Dibang Valley district administration had appealed to the state government to approve extra Pawan Hans service to evacuate the stranded passengers at Anini and Roing. Many of them got stranded for several days due to non-availability of helicopter service, official sources informed.

Meanwhile, Lower Dibang Valley district Zilla Parishad chairman Dature Miuli informed that flood water of the Dibang river and its tributaries had inundated most of the plain areas of the district like Iduli, Rukmo, Abali, Meka, Jia, Bolung, Parbuk, Kongkong, idili, Ithili and Daleswer.

Road communication between the villages like Abango, Injonu, Delo, Koronu and Bhismaknagar and Roing remained cut off due to flood water of the Aba and Injo rivers.

Moreover, the entire Dambuk sub-division remained cut off from the rest of the country as the Dibang and Sisiri rivers had been overflowing disrupting all mode of communication, Mr Miuli said and appealed to the state government to give necessary directive to the authorities concerned to minimise the impact of the flood fury.
