C'garh: DSP, 2 inspectors terminated from service
Raipur, Aug 2: Chhattisgarh government has terminated the services of three police officers, including a deputy Superintendent of police, who were convicted and sentenced for five-year imprisonment in connection with of murder of Nationalist Congress Party leader Ram Avatar Jaggi in June 2003.
Orders for the termination of DSP Amrik Singh Gill, Inspectors V K Pandey and R C Trivedi from the police have been issued, official sources said.
An additional district and session's court had convicted these three police officers against whom the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had filed charge sheet under section 193, 218 and 120 b of IPC. The court had sentenced them five-years rigorous imprisonment.
The CBI, which had investigated the Jaggi murder case, had filed charge sheets against Amit Jogi, son of former chief minister Ajit Jogi, and 28 others. However, the court acquitted Amit Jogi and convicted 28 others.
NCP leader Ram Avatar Jaggi was shot dead by unidentified persons in June 2003. The state police which investigated the case earlier arrested five people from Uttar Pradesh claiming that they had shot him dead during a robbery attempt.
After the BJP government came to power in December 2003, the probe was handed over to the CBI, which in its investigations found that those arrested by the state police were not the real culprits Subsequently, the CBI also filed charge sheets against three police officers.
