New Delhi, Aug 2 (UNI) Delhi Transport Minister Haroon Yusuf today said vehicles seized from Delhi Assembly canteen contractor Ashok Malhotra were in different names.

There have been no reports that of the vehicles seized any of them were in the names of one person but if they are found so, suitable action would be taken, he said.

The VIP numbers alloted to these vehicles were given on the recommendation of the parliamentarians, legislators, bureaucrats and mediapersons, Mr Yusuf said.

''And by the way they are not 'VIP numbers' as was being made out to be, they were mere 'fancy numbers','' he clarified.

Meanwhile, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ram Babu Sharma held the opposition BJP responsible for the DDA land scam, papers for which were recovered during the CBI's raids yesterday and today.

''The FIR registered is about the Rs 55-crore land scam which took place during 2000-02, when the BJP was in power.'' The whole issue is unnecessarily being twisted into a VIP number case of cars seized in the raids, he told UNI.

Mr Sharma, however, added that investigations should also be held into who gave these numbers to Malhotra.

On the other hand, Delhi BJP president Harshvardhan, while seeking enquiry into the scam by a retired Supreme Court judge, sought Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's resignation on the issue saying the Congress activists were involved in usurping land meant for the poor.

He also demanded that the CBI make public the names of Congress leaders involved in the bungling.
