Couple attempt suicide, wife dies

Allahabad, Aug 2 (UNI) A couple attempted suicide over a minor dispute at Kharash Fateh village under Nawabganj police station area here early this morning.

According to reports, Mohammad Azad (30) and his wife Shaheen (27) had an heated argument over an issue, following which Azad consumed poison.

Seeing her husband take an extreme step, Shaheen, who was pregnant, also consumed poison.

The couple was brought to Swaroop Rani Hospital, where Shaheen died during treatment and Azad was said to be out of danger.

The family of Shaheen alleged that Azad had deliberately given poison to his wife and consumed a little amount of it to cover the crime.

The couple was married for last three years and had a two-year-old child Aman.
