Bomb scare in family court turns out to be hoax

Ahmedabad, Aug 2 (UNI) A family court in Paldi area of the city today received a bomb threat but it turned out to be a hoax.

Police sources said this afternoon at around 1530 hrs, the Family court registrar Rita Kiran Desai received a letter through post, threatening that a powerful bomb had been planted in the premises of the court.

Ms Desai immediately informed the police, who sent a bomb disposal squad and a sniffer dog squad to the spot. However, after conducting a thorough search of the entire building and surrounding areas, no bomb or any explosive object was found by the police.

A police team also rushed to the minority-dominated Mirzapur area of the walled city to locate one A M Saiyad, whose name and address were given as the sender in the letter. However, no such person was found at the given address, sources said.

Police have tightened the security around the court as a precautionary measure, the sources added.
