BJP alleges violation of election model code in UP

Lucknow, Aug 2 (UNI) BJP today alleged the nomination of Major Sunil Dutt Dwivedi as the chairman of Labour Advisory Board by the Uttar Pradesh government was against the election model code of conduct.

Major Dwivedi is a local resident of Farrukhabad, where assembly by-poll is scheduled along with two other assembly and one Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.

The party claimed that Major Dwivedi's elevation as the board chairman after the issuance of bypoll notification was aimed at capitalising on its political fallout.

A four-member BJP delegation today met state chief election officer Anuj Kumar Bishnoi and demanded a probe.

''The Mayawati government has nominated a local resident to the post to derive political benefit,'' the party delegation alleged.
