Bandh-hit railway incurs loss of crores during bandh
Koderma, Aug 2 (UNI) The railway incurred a loss of several hundred crores of rupees during the Maoist-sponsored 24-hour bandh that ended at midnight last night.
North Railway Dhanbad Division DRM A K Gupta today told UNI that transportation at Roy and Khalari loading points was suspended from July 28 in the wake of the proposed bandh to avoid any major damage, the financial loss of which stood at Rs 50 crore.
Asked about the dynamite detonation by the Maoists at two railway stations in Latehar district, Mr Gupta could not specify the extent of loss but suggested that it would be worth several crores.
Besides, schedules of many trains were changed keeping in mind the safety measures.
