APCC resents BJP allegations
Itanagar, Aug 2 (UNI) The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has lambasted the BJP for demanding Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu's resignation for his alleged involvement in corruption.
State BJP president Tapen Siga told newsmen here yesterday that Mr Khandu and his two Cabinet colleagues - PWD Minister Nabam Tuki and Eduction Minister Tatar Kipa - should resign to facilitate ''free and fair'' enquiry against corruption charges.
Criticising the BJP, APCC general secretary T C Tok today alleged that the BJP was misleading people for extracting political mileage.
Since the matter was already sub-judice in Guwahati High Court, interference of any individual and organisation in this matter would be treated as contempt of court, he said.
'' It is something like a trading license of filing PIL and makes mockery of the legal system in this state, '' Mr Tok said adding some of the individuals, filing PIL against certain persons, were hired or sponsored for vested interest.
Appreciating the Dorjee Khandu-led ruling government, he said, '' The government has done a commendable job within a short span of time, and that is why some vested interests are throwing canards out of jealousy. '' The general secretary cautioned the BJP to refrain from publishing such ''misleading'' press statement to tarnish the image of the people -friendly and transparent government.
Meanwhile, the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Seva Dal also condemned the allegation of the BJP, saying it was totally baseless.
