Srinagar, Aug 2 (UNI) All villages in Jammu and Kashmir would be linked with a road and have electricity, drinking water and better education and healthcare facilities the within next four years.

This assurance was given by Chief Minster Ghulam Nabi Azad to a group of people from remote areas of district Kulgam, Bandipora, Rajouri, Poonch, Kupwara, Shopian, Anantnag, Srinagar, Budgam and Baramulla who called on him here.

Mr Azad said that the government had embarked on a massive programme of road connectivity, drinking water and power supply, better health care and educational facilities throughout the state.

The State government's efforts to expand road communication in the state, especially facilitating removal of legal impediment in the construction of Mughal Road received wide appreciation.

He said his government's development strategy was equitable distribution of resources and even handed development of all areas.

Mr Azad said for the first time, far off, hilly and forgotten areas in Jammu and Kashmir were receiving focused attention.

He said infrastructure related schemes that had been launched by his government or were in the pipeline would which transform the rural scene of the state even as these would upgrade public utilities and civic amenities in cities.

Mr Azad sought feed back from them on measures initiated by the state government in different sectors especially in infrastructure development.

The Chief Minister made a special mention of the steps taken by his government to alleviate the condition of the downtrodden and deprived segments of society.

He sought their active support in realising the dream of a peaceful and prosperous state.

Deputations coming from Gujjar, Bakerwal and Pahari belts were very appreciative of the Chief Minister for taking specific measures to address their grievances.

They made special mention of the recent decisions to create a separate directorate to deal with tribal affairs, upgrade 100 primary schools located in Gujjar inhabited areas and provide vocational training to Pahari students for increasing their employability in the job market.
